Help with aches and pains

Osteopathy is a way of detecting, treating and preventing problems such as aches and pains. This is achieved by moving, stretching and massaging a person’s muscles and joints. Leading to the relaxation of tight muscles, improving blood circulation and releasing trapped ligaments and tendons.

Patients can often feel a reduction in muscle pain after just one treatment. Muscle pain, or myalgia can also be linked with autoimmune disease, rheumatological conditions, drugs, infections and many more.

Osteopaths undergo a minimum of four years training. At one of our initial assessments we will perform a thorough medical history to ensure we can help you. If needed, we will refer you to your GP for further investigation.

Frequently asked questions

Osteopathic treatment can help alleviate persistent aches and pains. If you have a question please get in touch.

Osteopaths use gentle manipulation, stretching and massage of the body with the aim of:

  • help heal the body
  • increase mobility of joints
  • reduce pain
  • enhance blood supply

After taking a full case history we are able to discuss and consider if there are any underlying medical reasons for chronic pain, or whether there is poor postural habit.  Quite often the pain can induce a protective stance or habitual way of moving, which then creates further pain elsewhere.  Through treatment, exercises and possibly some changes in lifestyle, chronic pain can be reduced and managed far more efficiently.

The number of treatments needed will depend on the condition and other underlying issues.

We aim to keep patient appointments to a minimum.

Within a relatively short period of time, we are able get a good idea of whether our treatment is being of benefit and worth persevering with, or whether further referral is necessary.  We will always discuss this with you and keep you informed.
